Line of Beauty Series
18th century writers and thinkers sought to define and codify the source and essence of what we consider "beautiful". William Hogarth in his essay The Analysis of Beauty suggested that the essence of beauty could be distilled down the the serpentine line or the "s-curve." He named this essence "the line of beauty". The paintings in this series incorporate forms taken from 17th and 18th century ornamental iron work.
